Advanced Methods in Text Analytics

I’ve been responsible for designing, creating and delivering all lectures and exercises for a MSc course called Advanced Methods in Text Analytics at the University of Mannheim. The course is mainly focused on language modeling with a strong emphasis on LLMs. Since it took me quite a bit of work, I decided to make the contents of the course available, so that they may benefit other people as well, be it students or instructors.

The course is tailored to the average student I’ve encountered at the same university in my years as Teaching Assistant in MSc courses for machine learning, deep learning, and big data. And indeed the course has been well received. But the contents may not translate well to different settings, which is why some adjustments may be necessary.

In any case, for more information, please visit the official repository of the course. You are also encouraged to open issues to make suggestions or report bugs you may find in the content.

I am currently working on new material for this course, and will make it available as soon as possible.
